Marina Liaison Named
Philip McBride has officially been named SBYC liaison between the Sapphire Bay Yacht Club (SBYC) and Sapphire Bay Marina Management (SBM Management).
Phil has developed an excellent relationship with the SBM management team and has already gotten so many of our questions answered. THANK YOU PHIL! Going forward, if you have questions, concerns and/or comments that you would like addressed by SBM Management, please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and Phil will address them with the marina.
**As a reminder, this is only for club issues, if you have personal issues you need addressed, please continue to reach out to the marina directly. **
Annual Club Meeting Minutes
Our annual club meeting was held on 12.23.2021.

Bill Mansfield Commodore
Richard Clark Vice Commodore
Max Carr Rear Commodore

Voted on and approved was the name change of the club to Sapphire Bay Yacht Club. This identity allows us to rebuild and enjoy the continued support of Sapphire Bay Marina as well as better identify our home port for events hosted on the lake.
On the meeting agenda was a financial report which reports a strong financial position allowing us to buy replacement equipment lost in the storm and plan for social events.

Recommendations and Nominations Are Open
The BSC Nominating Committee is formally receiving recommendations and nominations for Flag Officers for the 2022 club year. Please email recommendations and nominations to one of the nominating committee members.
Recommendations and Nominations
To avoid confusion, we would like to distinguish between a recommendation and a nomination.
A recommendation is exactly that - your opinion about "who would be good for what". You don't need that person's permission to recommend them. You are helping the nominating committee think of everyone that ought to be considered for the various offices. Recommendations won't necessarily appear on the ballot.
A nomination is a formal request to appear on the election ballot for a particular office. A nomination must come from the candidate and shall be endorsed by at least two more members in good standing. Nominations will be received from now until the annual meeting.
The Nominating Committee Slate
The consensus goal of this year’s nominating committee is to propose a slate of club Flag Officers that will be good at their roles, that will work well with each other, and that want to hold the positions (at least after sufficient arm twisting). This will be a rebuilding year and the committee is looking for a team that can work over the winter to set a vision for the club’s next year and beyond.
As allowed by the bylaws, the nominating committee slate will be presented first for an up/down vote at the annual meeting. If the slate is not approved by the membership, nominations from the membership will be taken for an office-by-office election. This means that nominations will not be used if the slate is approved.
Nominating Committee Update
The membership list given to the BSC nominating committee has 64 names that were active in the previous season, 28 paid 2021 members, and 11 members that have responded to earlier NomCom emails (not all paid 2021 members, but who's counting).
If you want to participate in the 2022 officer election, please pay your 2021 dues. Somehow, 2021 memberships will be extended for the 2022 season, so go ahead and pay now. :)
If you want to receive notices by email, please dig the kickoff message out of your spam folder and reply to it. The subject was "Bayside Sailing Club 2022 officer nominations are open" and it was sent on 11/17.
Officer Roles and Responsibilities
These elected officers have, since the formation of the club, served as the Executive Committee as described in the club bylaws.
If you did not receive this by email, please contact the nominating committee with your latest email address.
